BlackJack is one of the most popular casino games today. Everyone plays against the dealer. The dealer gives each player two cards. The dealer also gets two cards: one face down, and the other face up. The object is to draw cards that total 21, or as close to 21 as possible without going over (busting). Ten, Jack, Queen and King count as ten. Aces count either as one or eleven, depending on the player's choice for each hand. Other cards play at their face value. If the player receives an ace and a ten-value card as his or her first two cards, the player has "BlackJack" and will win one and one-half times his or her bet, unless the dealer also has BlackJack. This applies to all Blackjack games except 6 to 5 single deck Blackjack. If the dealer has BlackJack as well, it is a tie. Depending on the Blackjack game, the house either hits or stands on soft 17. If the player hits and his or her total is more than 21, then the player has busted and loses. If the player does not go over 21 and the dealer does, the player wins. These simple key rules will help in play: - If the player's total is closer to 21 than the dealer's total, the player wins.
